This month were going to talk about our theme of Following Your Longing. The dictionary defines longing as, a strong desire especially for something unattainable: craving. Longing is closely related to yearning, and yearning is very common in grief. In fact, a 2007 Yale Bereavement Study of 233 people found that out of disbelief, yearning, anger, depression, and acceptance of the death, acceptance was the most common grief experience and yearning was the most common negative one. Whether longing/yearning is negative depends on a couple of things. Well talk more about that in future weeks.
