Sue and Family,

From my family to yours, we express our deepest sympathies. My father and I both graduated from Penn State and have seen the direct impact that Joe and the entire Paterno family have had on this wonderful institution. Thoughts and prayers from Tennessee.

I never had the honor of meeting Coach Paterno in my 4 years at Penn State, but he has always been a part of my life as an example of what it is to be a great human being. I will carry his lessons of integrity, honor and loyalty with me for the rest of my life. We will miss you, JoePa. Rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers are with your family and Penn Staters everywhere.

Deepest sympathy to the Paterno Family. JoePa will always be remembered as a great humanitarian and his values for all of us will live on. I was a junior when he became head coach.

Rest in peace Joe. You were loved by so many people for all the great things you accomplished in your life, and we are all so thankful and blessed to have had you in our lives in one way or another. Your legacy and efforts at Penn State and in the community will continue to thrive for many years. Thank you so much.

To the rest of the Paterno clan, my sincerest condolences. You had the pleasure of knowing Joe better than anyone, and I hope knowing that brings you comfort.

The Paterno Family, Your husband, father and grandfather was such and inspiration to so many people. I never attended PSU but grew up in the area and love to watch PSU football. It is incomprehensible that Joe Pa is not with us anymore. I loved watching him coach and to listen to him speak. I only hope that other people have learned and will be more like Joe! He was an awesome man! My prayers are with you!

We lost a lot. We all lost someone. A man that embodied so much to so many.

Joseph Vincent Paterno will always be my coach. The man that I watched every Saturday since I was old enough to realize the town I was growing up in.

This hole that is now in my heart will be there forever. Nothing will fill it. No amount of wins or cheers will fill it. It will always be there. A reminder that a great man once had an influence on my life and in some small way made me a better person. He will never know what he's done for me. But I will live everyday of my life striving to be, in whatever way I can, the legend that he was.

We will always love you.
