Jeanne Lynn Hall, December 2, 1958 – December 23, 2011. Jeanne died unexpectedly at Mt. Nittany Medical Center on December 23, 2011. Jeanne was an associate professor at Penn State University in the College of Communications, Department of Film-Video and Media Studies. Jeanne loved teaching and was very proud to be a member of the faculty at her beloved Penn State for the past nineteen years. She touched the lives of many students and colleagues in the Penn State community, and was regularly recognized for her passion and dedication to teaching. Her students often said she transformed their lives. Prior to Penn State, Jeanne taught at the Ohio University School of Film for three years. After graduation from West Bloomfield (MI) High School, Jeanne earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Michigan. She earned her doctorate in Film Studies from the University of Wisconsin. She is survived by her parents, Clark and Joyce Hall, West Bloomfield, MI; sisters Kathleen (Frank) Gariepy, and Cheryl (David) Lindsay; brothers Mark (Jodi) Hall, Thomas Hall, and James (Kristin) Hall, all of Michigan. She is also survived by Jean Stobart Hall, and her former husband Ron Bettig. Jeanne was deeply loved and cherished by her family and many friends. To borrow one of her favorite phrases – she rocked!
